"Frog"

Frog is amphibian and they eat bugs. They live in fresh water or land. Their back legs are longer than their front.  It made frogs easy to jump and swim. Frogs have two breathing organ. When they were little, frogs breathes using their gills. This makes them more like a fish than a frog. But when they grows up, they use their lungs.  Frogs started their lives as eggs that are laid in water, or in other wet places.

Frogs have short crooked bodies. They have four legs and they don’t have tails. Generally, frogs have smooth and moist skin. Its hind legs are larger than their front leg, that’s why frogs can jump very far. Their large rear legs can also be used for swimming, digging or burying itself  in the ground when hibernating. Frogs also have a good sense of vision, It is useful to examine the situation in all around it.

Frogs have a unique life cycle called metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is composed of four steps. The first is eggs, frog eggs obtained from female frog egg cell that are fertilized by a male frog. After 21 days, the eggs turn into tadpoles. The second stage is the tadpole stage. This is the stage where the frogs breathe using gills. After 8 weeks, the tadpoles begin to grow legs. After that they will jump to the surface as small frogs and grow into adult frogs.

Frogs reproduce sexually. The frogs Fertilization occur in the outside of the body. The female frogs will release her eggs. After that, the male frog will stick to the female frog and embrace her armpit tightly from behind. After that, the males will fertilize the eggs. Like the another oviparous animals, frogs also protect their eggs. Frogs  protect their eggs in a unique way. They let their eggs stick to their back and take the eggs wherever they went.

Generaly, frogs are classified into two types. There are poisonous frogs and not poisonous ones. Golden poison, Blue poison and Black legged are the examples of poisonous frogs. The toxins inside their bodies are harmful to humans. Therefore, this type of frogs cannot be eaten. The example of non-poisonous frogs are bullfrogs. This type of frog could be eaten. Not only that, bull frogs also have unique horns on their head. It makes them interesting as pets.

Frogs have an important part in the food chain. That’s why a reduction in the number of frogs will cause a extinction of frogs predators. In addition, Frogs also can be used as indicators of environmental pollution. The level of pollution in an area can be seen from the number of frogs who can be found in that area. Not only for the nature, frogs also can be useful for the humans. Many people cook it and eat it. They believe that frogs can be used as medicine. Prof. Chris Shaw from United Arab Emirates University explain that the substance in the frogs skin can be used as antibiotic for the humans. This antibiotic can kill deadly bacterias, such as Staphilococcus aureus.
